2018 FIFA World Cup: Five Latin American teams in the round of 16
The 2018 FIFA World Cup is now in the round of 16 stage and five Latin American teams will be able to compete for the most coveted international title in sports. Those five teams are Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico and Colombia.
Each of these teams had a distinct road to this knockout stage and now has a great opportunity to make a name for themselves. Uruguay was one of two teams in the entire competition that managed to win all of its games in the group stage.
The only other undefeated Latin American team in the competition was Brazil, who topped Group E with seven points. Colombia did lead Group H, but did finish the group stage with a loss to Japan along with wins to Poland and Senegal.
Finally, Mexico and Argentina finished second in their respective groups and were very close to being left out of the knockout stage. This round of 16 will now represent a completely new challenge, especially to Argentina and Mexico that will be facing France and Brazil respectively.

Uruguay will have to deal with Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal while Colombia will have the arduous task of playing England. All of these games should be exciting and result in extremely competitive encounters with the Latin American teams in the mix.
