2018 FIFA World Cup Preview: Uruguay set to make debut against Egypt
The 2018 FIFA World Cup started up with Russia defeating Saudi Arabia by a ludicrous scoreline of 5-0. The result catapulted the host nation to first place in Group A and now this Friday, June 15, the other two teams from Group A will try and gain some ground on Russia.
Uruguay will play against Egypt at the Ekaterinburg Arena in Yekaterinburg, Russia for those vital three points. The match should be very exciting, but Uruguay is the clear favorite heading into the bout with a much more complete squad than its opponent.
Oscar Tabarez’s defense has key players like team captain Diego Godin and Jose Maria Gimenez, the midfield has young stars like Lucas Torreira and Rodrigo Bentancur and the attack contains the most notable names in Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.
Los Charruas finished second in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers just behind first-place Brazil and will now look to be a dark horse in Russia. The South American side is undefeated in seven consecutive games in all competitions heading into this World Cup and should be able to have an impressive debut.

Egypt also has a very solid squad, but the main player that does stand out is Mohamed Salah that scored 42 goals with Liverpool in the Premier League and Champions League collectively. After speculation that Salah could miss out in this opening game, it was confirmed that the superstar will be ready to play this Friday.
Including Salah, Egypt does have a total of six players that play in England including Mohamed Elneny of Arsenal and Ahmed Elmohamady of Aston Villa. Another intriguing player for the African side will be 45-year-old goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary that will be the oldest player in the tournament.
The Pharaohs finished first in Group E of the CAF World Cup qualifiers and will now try and cause some upsets in Group A.
Futbol 20 predicts a slim 2-1 win for Uruguay in what should prove to be a very contested an hard-fought encounter.
