Liga MX: Chivas has unimpressive draft ahead of Apertura 2018
Chivas de Guadalajara is a franchise that is on the downfall in the Mexican football scene after being champions a little over a year ago. Club America, Cruz Azul, Pumas UNAM, Monterrey and Tigres UANL these are all teams that are doing much more than the team that is supposed to be the biggest in Mexico.
The front office has shown no initiative to try and form a competitive squad next season and soon Chivas will be without a manager and a sporting director. The front office displayed this behavior even more at the latest installment of the Liga MX draft with some very unimpressive signings.
Rodolfo Cota, Rodolfo Pizarro and Oswaldo Alanis these are all players that were important to Chivas’ Clausura 2017 championship team and are now players that are out of the team. Cota is now with Leon, Alanis is off to Europe and Pizarro is now with Monterrey.
Other players that left in the draft include Jose Antonio Rodriguez to Lobos BUAP, Alex Mayorga to Necaxa and Oscar Macias, Michelle Benitez, Luis Marquez and Ronaldo Cisneros that left to Zacatepec on loan.
The players that were brought in do not inspire confidence in anyone with Mario De Luna, Miguel Ponce, Raul Gudino, Josecarlos Van Rankin, Alex Zendejas and Angel Sepulveda.
De Luna is a centre-back that is very bad in the air and is also already 30 years old, while Van Rankin leads the Liga MX in fouls committed over the past three years. Miguel Ponce is one of the better signings, but he is just a fullback and will not have a heavy impact on the squad.

Raul Gudino could not even get a starting job in Cyprus and Angel Sepulveda is supposed to replace Rodolfo Pizarro. Sepulveda has scored a max of four goals in a season in his entire Liga MX career that dates back to 2010 and is not comparable to Pizarro in the technical side of the game.
Fans and players are protesting as Club Deportivo Guadalajara is on its way to another disappointing season in the Liga MX.
