Liga MX: Leon sign Yairo Moreno from Independiente Medellin
The Liga MX draft is underway, but Leon decided to take a different route and hit the international market this Wednesday, June 6. La Fiera officially announced the signing of Colombian attacking midfielder Yairo Moreno from Colombian team Independiente Medellin.
Moreno had spent his entire career in his native Colombia from 2014-2018 playing with Independiente Medellin, La Equidad and Envigado F.C. The 23-year-old can play out on the wings and as an attacking midfielder and has very similar characteristics to Hernan Burbano, who is currently on Leon.
This can make him a very exciting player in the Liga MX, but it is unclear if he will be able to adapt to the highly competitive league. Leon’s only other official signing so far is another Colombian, William Tesillo as the team now has six Colombian players on its roster.

Those six are Moreno, Tesillo, Hernan Dario Burbano, Alexander Mejia, Andres Andrade and Andres Mosquera. Leon president Jesus Martinez Jr. has said that the team is still looking for a fullback, two offensive midfielders and a striker.
It will be interesting to see Moreno’s impact and if Leon conducts any business in the draft or opts for the international market.
