Liga MX: Chivas sign Mario De Luna from Necaxa
A lot of recent Liga MX news has revolved around plenty of negativity surrounding Chivas de Guadalajara. The team has let go of a few star players and it seems like the manager Matias Almeyda is also on his way out of the team.
The front office does not seem to be interested in signing players, but did announce the signing of defender Mario De Luna. The 30-year-old centre-back started his career with Chivas in 2008 and was with Los Rojiblancos until 2015.
De Luna also had loan spells with Chivas USA and Puebla when his contract was previously owned by Club Deportivo Guadalajara. The Mexican defender joined Necaxa in 2016 and received plenty of minutes with Los Rayos in five seasons.
With Necaxa, De Luna won the Liga de Ascenso, Campeonato de Ascenso and the Copa MX in the Clausura 2018. Now with Chivas, the 30-year-old will be looking to succeed with the team where he first started his career in Mexican football.

De Luna should not be considered a direct replacement for Oswaldo Alanis in the centre-back role, the skillset of the two players is not really comparable. The veteran should be more of a player that adds squad depth to Chivas instead of a starting option.
