Liga MX: Cruz Azul officially announce singing of Ivan Marcone
Cruz Azul has been the busiest team on the transfer market since the end of the Clausura 2018 as it has already secured six signings. The latest of these new additions was announced this Thursday, May 31, as Ivan Marcone was officially presented with the Mexico City club.
The Argentine midfielder had previously spent his entire career in his native country with Arsenal de Sarandi from 2008-2015 and with Lanus from 2016-2018. This will now be the biggest challenge of his career as he tries to add structure to La Maquina’s midfield.
The 27-year-old excels at the defensive side of the game and is considered by some critics as the best number five in Argentina. There have been several players with similar characteristics as Marcone that have succeeded in the Liga MX like Guido Pizarro and Guido Rodriguez.

Marcone is now the lone player that Ricardo Pelaez has signed in this transfer window without Liga MX experience. There will be immense pressure on the Argentine to perform, but he does have potential and can be a player that adds a lot to Pedro Caixinha’s team.
