Liga MX: Club America sign Mexican fullback Luis Reyes from Atlas
The left-back role has been one that Club America has been trying to fill since the departure of fan-favorite and Mexico international Miguel Layun. Players like Miguel Samudio and Carlos Vargas have been decent, but have failed to make the same type of impact as “Layundowski”.
Luis Reyes was a player that had been on Miguel Herrera’s radar since the previous transfer window and now he is finally heading to Coapa. “El Hueso” was officially announced as Club America’s latest signing this Friday, May 18 and could be the player to fill that void in the left-back position.
Atlas had a horrible season finishing in 15th place with just 18 points , but Reyes had limited participation with just 10 games played. The Mexican fullback has been very consistent in recent tournaments for Los Rojinegros, even getting attention from the Mexico national team.
You could even argue that a different manager other than Juan Carlos Osorio would have taken Reyes to Russia this summer. The Monterrey native had been with Atlas since 2013, but had been loaned out to several teams in the Ascenso MX and other inferior leagues in his tenure with Los Zorros.

This will be the biggest task of his career now with high expectations to perform by fans and media as a member of Club America. Reyes is in the prime of his career at 27 years old and now is the time to prove himself and really get his name out there for European teams and the Mexico national team.
There is arguably no better place to do this in Mexico than with Las Aguilas as he will try and solidify the backline.
