Carlos Salcedo, Marco Fabian, defeat Bayern Munich, crowned champions of DFB Pokal with Frankfurt
The Mexico national team players playing in Europe have enjoyed successful seasons just before the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Hirving Lozano was crowned champion with PSV Eindhoven, Hector Herrera, “Tecatito” Corona and Diego Reyes all conquered the Portuguese league with FC Porto.
This Saturday, May 19, it was time for Carlos Salcedo and Marco Fabian to win a championship of their own with Eintracht Frankfurt. The Eagles were facing an uphill battle, coming up against Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal final.
Frankfurt were the heavy underdogs, but prevailed against the German giants with a 3-1 win at the Olympic stadium in Berlin. Ante Rebic scored two goals for Eintracht, while Mijat Gacinovic netted the third to seal the title-win.
Marco Fabian had no participation in the encounter as he was left on the bench, but Carlos Salcedo did play all 90 minutes in the match. Overall the Mexico international had a very solid showing as he finished the clash with 11 clearances.

The win was a very significant one for the Mexican players and for Eintracht Frankfurt over such a talented team like Bayern Munich. The silverware is nice, but this also means that The Eagles will play in the UEFA Europa League next season.
