Costa Rica names official 2018 World Cup squad with Keylor Navas atop the list
Keylor Navas currently has the UEFA Champions League final on his mind, but then will need to focus on leading his country in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The 31-year-old goalkeeper is Costa Rica’s star player and led his country to the quarterfinals of the global competition in 2014.
Oscar Ramirez released his official 23-man squad for the tournament in Russia this summer and the name that immediately stood out was the Real Madrid superstar. Along with Navas, there are a total of 10 players on the Central American side that play in Europe.
The MLS is also home to six players on the roster, along with six players that play domestically in Costa Rica and Johnny Acosta, who plays in Colombia with Rionegro rounding up the squad.

The youngest player on the roster is 20-year-old Ian Smith that plays with Norrköping in Sweden while the most veteran player is 36-year-old goalkeeper Patrick Pemberton.
The CONCACAF side will have a very tough task to get out of Group E in the competition with Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland. Keylor Navas will surely have to play an important role in order for Los Ticos to get through to the knockout stage.
