Liga MX: Tigres UANL & Monterrey are still the top title contenders in the Clausura 2018
We are now in the final stages of the Liga MX Clausura 2018 as the playoffs kick off this Wednesday. The favorites to win the title last season were Tigres UANL and Monterrey and that did end up being the final.
Tigres found the glory while Monterrey found disappointment but there is a good chance that these two teams will battle it out again in the Clausura 2018 final as both are the favorites to take the title once again. Toluca finished in first place but the rosters are simply not comparable to Tigres and Monterrey, same that goes for any other Liga MX team.
Tigres has the superstars like Andre-Pierre Gignac, Eduardo Vargas, Enner Valencia and Javier Aquino while Monterrey has the solidarity. Rayados’ top scorer this season was Alfonso Gonzalez with just six goals but the team scored 30, which was good for the best in the Liga MX.
Either team from Nuevo Leon has been present in the last five Liga MX finals and it would not be surprising to see one or both of them in it again this year. Tigres is currently living a dynasty as it has won three Liga MX trophies in the last three years.
Rayados has not won a title since 2010 and its biggest motivation is to compete with its crosstown rivals. Monterrey has the coach (Antonio Mohamed) and the players to achieve another Liga MX accolade and the only thing in its way seems to be the ferocious felines.
