James Rodriguez provides assist in Bayern’s defeat to Real Madrid
Bayern Munich could not use its home-field advantage in the first leg of a semifinal matchup against Real Madrid as the German side fell 2-1 to Los Blancos. The game did start off promising for the home team with a goal by Joshua Kimmich in the 27th minute.
However, the visitors tied the game before the end of the first half with a goal by Marcelo and then Marco Ascensio went on to seal the final 2-1 scoreline for Los Merengues in the 56th minute. The German giants fell but James Rodriguez did provide the assist to Kimmich’s goal and was one of the better players on the pitch.
Kimmich’s goal came off a potent strike from just inside of the penalty area but the assist from the Colombian superstar was also significant in the play as he provided a pass before the halfway line to find the German fullback.

Rodriguez played the entire match against his former team and ended it with a pass accuracy over 90-percent, 64 accurate passes, four key passes and four accurate long balls. The 26-year-old phenom has played in 11 Champions League matches this season and now has two assists but is still looking for his first goal in the competition.
