Only one Mexican-born goalscorer in Week 11 of the Liga MX Clausura 2018
There were 20 goals scored in Week 11 of the Liga MX Clausura 2018 but there was only one Mexican-born goalscorer. This has been the lowest tally for Mexican-born players this season and really sheds light on the importance of foreigners in the Liga MX.
The lone goal came in the Lobos BUAP versus Chivas of Guadalajara match by Chivas’ youngster Jose Juan Macias. The 18-year-old managed to strike the sphere inside of the penalty area off a cross by Isaac Brizuela.

With 15 Mexican-born players starting that game it was almost inevitable especially with both teams aggressive playing styles. Macias is a player that represents the future but there are not a plethora of similar players across the Liga MX.
With players like Alexis Vega and Henry Martin now struggling to get playing time for their respective teams, there could be more weekends in the Liga MX with very few or no Mexican goalscorers.
