Liga MX Clausura 2018 Week 7: Queretaro vs Chivas de Guadalajara Match Preview February 14, 2018
Queretaro will host Chivas de Guadalajara at the Estadio Corregidora this Wednesday, February 14, 2018 (5:00 PM Pacific) for a game in the seventh round of matches in the Liga MX Clausura 2018. Both teams are struggling to start off this Clausura 2018 but will be motivated to obtain the three points from the game.
Queretaro has been a very disappointing team in this tournament but is coming off a very impressive 2-0 win against Club Tijuana away from home. The win was Los Gallos Blancos’ second of the season as Queretaro also pulled off a 2-0 win against Lobos BUAP earlier in the tournament. Luis Fernando Tena’s team also had a surprising 0-0 draw against Tigres UANL in Week 3 of the competition.
Overall, Queretaro has been underachieving expectations as it was expected to do better with key signings like Edson Puch and Miguel Samudio in the transfer window. Edson Puch finally stepped up for his new team as he scored both goals in Los Gallos’ victory against Club Tijuana. The Chilean forward will be one of the key players to watch in this game as Queretaro will have a very winnable game against a struggling Chivas’ team.

Chivas has been one of the most disappointing teams in the past couple of tournaments, trending downward since its championship in the Clausura 2017. Los Rojiblancos do not look poised to make the playoffs, currently in penultimate place with just four points.
Chivas’ lone win this season came against Necaxa in Week 3 and El Rebano has lost three consecutive games since then. The team from Guadalajara has some talented players like Rodolfo Pizarro and Orbelin Pineda but has failed to recreate its form from its championship campaign. Matias Almeyda’s men will face a beatable team in Queretaro but it is unclear if the team will perform to expectations.
