Liga MX Clausura 2018: Lobos BUAP vs Tigres UANL Match Preview February 13, 2018
This Tuesday, February 13, 2018 (6:30 PM Pacific) Lobos Buap will host Tigres UANL at the Estadio Universitario BUAP for a game in the seventh round of matches in the Liga MX Clausura 2018. The clash is set to be one of the bigger mismatches in this round of play as Lobos is trying to evade relegation while Tigres is considered a heavy title contender.
Lobos BUAP is coming off its first win of the season, an impressive 3-1 win against Atlas at home. The team from Puebla was down 3-1 up until the 71st minute of the encounter, where Jeronimo Amione tied up the game. Julian Quinones then emerged as the hero for La Manada with two goals to obtain the three points from the game. Peruvian fullback Luis Advincula did receive a red card in that match and will not be available for this game against the current champions.
Rafael Puente Jr. has a very intriguing team with some exciting players but this seems to be an almost impossible task against one of the better teams in the Liga MX. Puente does use a high risk, high pressing style of play that could result in a surprising result but will more likely result in a big defeat in this game.

Tigres UANL is not off to a brilliant start in this Clausura 2018 with just eight points from the first six games. Ricardo Ferretti’s men have had some disappointing results like a 2-1 loss to Puebla and a scoreless draw against Queretaro. The Apertura 2017 champions are coming off a 1-1 draw against Club America that could have easily ended in defeat had Matheus Uribe not missed a penalty for Las Aguilas.
Despite this bad run of form, Tigres UANL still has arguably the best roster in the league and should be able to defeat a team like Lobos BUAP. Andre-Pierre Gignac has said that it can be tough to play in Puebla because of the altitude and considering it is a midweek clash he may not start in this game.
The game should be an entertaining duel as Rafael Puente Jr. will surely try and press and be aggressive to get an early lead. Ferretti is likely to be patient and try and control possession of the ball and should ultimately come on top by the final whistle.
