Liga MX Clausura 2018: Club America vs Monarcas Morelia Match Preview February 13, 2018
This Tuesday, February 13, 2018 (6:45 PM Pacific) Club America will host Monarcas Morelia at the Estadio Azteca for a game in the seventh round of matches in the Liga MX Clausura 2018. Both teams are considered playoff contenders and should provide one of the more enticing encounters this Tuesday in the Liga MX.
Las Aguilas are flying high, currently second in the Liga MX with 12 points, still undefeated after six games. Miguel Herrera’s team is coming off a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Tigres UANL away from home, where a penalty by Jeremy Menez helped Club America obtain the favorable result.
Henry Martin has surprisingly been the standout player for Club America so far as he has already managed to score five goals this season. The former Xolos’ striker has created a potent attack with Oribe Peralta and players like Renato Ibarra and Jeremy Menez that have also made Club America a dangerous team going forward.
Miguel Herrera’s backline has perhaps been the most impressive component of his team with Bruno Valdez really stepping up and Guido Rodriguez providing solid coverage from the midfield. Club America should be able to win this game as it has the better squad and will have the home-field advantage at the Estadio Azteca.

Monarcas Morelia has been a solid team for a couple of seasons now after being on the cusp of relegation about a year ago. Manager Roberto Hernandez has done a very good job of implementing his philosophy and inspiring this core of players to become a successful team in the Liga MX since that relegation battle.
La Monarquia is coming off a tough 2-1 loss to Pumas UNAM at the Estadio Morelos but did have an impressive 3-2 win against Pachuca away from home before that. The offense has been solid but Raul Ruidiaz seems to not be in top-notch form with only two goals in six games so far.
This does not seem like a winnable game for Morelia but maybe a draw is possible against one of the better teams in the league. The game should definitely prove to be an entertaining clash between two teams that could potentially play each other in the playoffs at the end of the Clausura regular season.
