Liga MX Clausura 2018: Atlas vs Necaxa Match Preview February 13, 2018
This Tuesday, February 13, 2018 (5:00 PM Pacific) Atlas will host Necaxa at the Estadio Jalisco for a game in the seventh round of matches in the Liga MX Clausura 2018. Both teams are not poised to make much of an impact this season but could provide a very competitive match in Guadalajara.
Atlas is coming off its worst result of the Clausura 2018 and is currently bottom of the Liga MX table. Los Zorros fell 3-1 to Lobos BUAP over the weekend and the team does not seem very promising under the leadership of Ruben Omar Romano. The team from Guadalajara fell apart as it had a 1-0 lead up until the 71st minute, where they had a total meltdown to lose the game.
Atlas’ lone win of the tournament was a 2-1 win against Cruz Azul in Week 5 of the competition, where two goals by Stiven Barreiro led to the three points from the game. Romano has some intriguing players at his disposal like Angelo Henriquez, Ravel Morrison and Alexi Gomez but they have failed to make an impact and work together to achieve favorable results.

Atlas has historically known how to use its home-field advantage at the Estadio Jalisco favorably but it will be facing a Necaxa side that is in solid form. Necaxa is undefeated in its last three games, coming off a 2-0 win against Cruz Azul at the Estadio Azul. The team from Aguascalientes also had a scoreless draw against Toluca and an impressive 4-0 away win versus Leon in this run.
Los Rayos have also not conceded a goal in their last three games as Ignacio Ambriz has really kept an ordered side in his tenure with the club. Players like Igor Lichnovsky, Brayan Beckles and Marcelo Barovero have really stood out in this good run of form as well as Carlos Gonzalez that has been key in the offense.
The Paraguayan striker is up to four goals this season and will be one of the main players to watch in this encounter. It will be very difficult for Atlas’ struggling offense to break down Necaxa’s solid backline but it should still prove to be an entertaining encounter.
