Dayro Moreno scores first of season to lead Atletico Nacional past Santa Fe
This Saturday, Atletico Nacional achieved an important 1-0 victory against Santa Fe in Week 2 of the 2018 Liga Aguila. It seemed as if Gregorio Perez opted to lose the game before it started as he used an alternate squad with several key players missing.
Los Cardenales had played earlier in the week in the Copa Libertadores and also have an important game against Santiago Wanderers in the same competition this Tuesday. Perez opted to rest his key players for the international competition really showcasing what his priorities are this year.
Atletico Nacional took advantage of this and secured the three points at home against a dismantled Santa Fe side. The decisive goal of the encounter came in the 11th minute when Dayro Moreno landed a header off a cross by Macnelly Torres that found the back of Miguel Solis’ net.

Jorge Almiron’s back line also played a crucial role in the result as Diego Braghieri and Felipe Aguilar finished the match with a combined 17 clearances. Almiron is off to a perfect start in this Liga Aguila with two wins from two games and will look to continue this streak heading into the week.
Los Verdolagas will take on Patriotas de Boyaca away from home this Thursday, as Santa Fe will focus on its Copa Libertadores fixture as mentioned before. The team from Bogota has now lost its first two games in Liga Aguila this season but is clearly looking to focus on the Copa Libertadores.
