Three games to watch in Week 2 of the 2018 Liga Aguila
The Liga Aguila is back in full swing in Colombia and there have already been some surprising results in the competition. There will be several matchups to keep an eye on in Week 2 of the tournament and here are three games to watch this weekend.
Atletico Nacional vs Santa Fe
The big game this weekend in Colombia will be between Los Verdolagas and Los Cardenales in Medellin. Both teams had intense games during the week making this a more even matchup and there is no clear winner heading into it. Atletico Nacional lost the Superliga de Colombia against Millonarios this past Wednesday but did win its first Liga Aguila game against Deportes Tolima last weekend. Andres Renteria has been in fine form for Nacional with goals in both of these games and will be one of the main players to watch in this encounter. Dayro Moreno and Helibelton Palacios were on the bench against Tolima last week but Jorge Almiron may decide to play the pair in this vital game. El Verde arguably has the better squad and the home-field advantage but it should still prove to be a contested clash.
Santa Fe went through to the next round of the Copa Libertadores with a 0-0 draw against Deportivo Tachira this Thursday but started the 2018 Liga Aguila with a loss to Patriotas. The team from Bogota will be hungry for its first three points in the competition and has enough quality on its roster to pull off a result in Medellin. The game is the most enticing in the Liga Aguila this week and should prove to be an entertaining clash.
America de Cali vs Tolima
Both teams made the playoffs in the Liga Aguila II 2017 and should prove to be intriguing teams in this tournament as well. America did a good job reinforcing its team bringing in players like Pablo Armero, Felix Micolta and Avimiled Rivas from Tolima. Los Escarlatas are coming off a 2-1 win against Leones in Week 1 of the 2018 Liga Aguila, where goals by Cristian Martinez Borja and new defender Danilo Arboleda led the team to the three points. Los Diablos Rojos will be the favorites in this match because of the home-field advantage at the Estadio Pascual Guerrero but Tolima should be able to put up a good fight.
Tolima had a rough 1-0 loss against Atletico Nacional to start off the 2018 Liga Aguila and will now look to turn things around. Fullback Danovis Banguero inclusively picked up a red card in the game and will not be available for Alberto Gamero in this match. Tolima made some decent moves this offseason by bringing in Rafael Robayo and Robin Ramirez but did lose some key players like Avimiled Rivas and Santiago Montoya. The void of Montoya should particularly be felt as no player of his quality to generate play was brought in. Alberto Gamero still counts with a solid side that is capable of taking down a team like America and should provide a valiant effort this Saturday.

Millonarios vs Patriotas
The game between Millonarios and Patriotas has potential to be one of the most entertaining matchups this weekend. Both teams are coming from surprising results in Week 1 of the 2018 Liga Aguila as Millonarios tied 1-1 with Boyaca Chico and Patriotas defeated Santa Fe 2-0 away from home. The current champions lost some key players like Duvier Riascos and Nicolas Vikonis but also added some interesting names like Wuilker Farinez, Roberto Ovelar and Santiago Montoya. Patriotas also made several moves in the transfer market that have already paid off for the team. Ivan Rivas and Diego Alvarez were just brought in this season and provided the goals for the team from Boyaca in their match against Santa Fe. There is no clear winner heading into the match but Millonarios must be motivated to get its first three points of the season after an unimpressive start to the new campaign.
