Velez Sarsfield is really looking to turn things around in 2018 after a rough start to the 17/18 Superliga Argentina season. Several players have been brought in along with new manager Gabriel Heinze but this Thursday the Buenos Aires side announced the departure of defender Emiliano Amor.
The 22-year-old centre-back will be joining Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer on a one-year loan and will get extra vacation time as the MLS season does not start until March. Preparation for the next MLS season is well underway but teams are still looking to adjust and bring in more players.
Amor is a solid defender that should be able to boost this Kansas City side that was the team that allowed the fewest goals (29) in the 2017 MLS season. The Buenos Aires native had spent his entire career with Velez Sarsfield but had mainly been used as a backup, except for the 2015 season where he started 25 games.
In that same season, Amor managed to score three goals but also received 12 yellow cards and was sent off from three games. More and more Argentine players seem to be coming over to the MLS as 24 played in the 2017 season and that number should keep on rising over the years.
