Barcelona close to signing 18-year old offensive midfielder prospect from Brazil
After the significant £142 million signing of Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho and the near addition of Colombian defender Yerry Mina, Barcelona seems to have their eyes set on yet another South American player – Luan. The 18 year old offensive midfielder from EC Vitoria is the newest revelation from the Brasileirao as he has scored five goals in just two matches in the youth Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.
The player’s release clause is around €12.5 million which is not a tremendous amount if Luan grows into an important star. If the ‘blaugranas’ make the signing, Luan will most like join Barcelona B considering the player’s lack of first-team experience and the first-team’s limited three foreign player space.
GloboEsporte reports that Barcelona has already held meetings with representatives from Vitoria and the player. An official offer could be sent as soon as next week for Vitoria’s greatest prospect in years.
