Colombians Abroad: Jose Izquierdo plays in FA Cup while Quino gets start in Primeira Liga
This Monday, two Colombian players featured in two different games across the top European leagues. Jose Izquierdo received the start and played the full 90 minutes in Brighton’s 2-1 win against Crystal Place in the third round of the FA Cup.
Dale Stephens and Glen Murray scored the goals that led to the Seagulls victory at home as Izquierdo did not get an opportunity to do much with the ball. The 25-year-old winger had a very quiet game with no shots, no crosses, one successful dribble, three of 10 duels won and was inclusively dispossessed twice. The Pereira native has been receiving more playing time lately by Chris Hughton and he has shined in a couple of games recently.
In Portugal, fullback Hector Quinones received the start for Pacos de Ferreira in its 1-1 draw with Portimonense at home on matchday 17 of the Primeira Liga. The 25-year-old defender played the full game and did push forward throughout the encounter. Quinones finished the match with two interceptions, a clearance, two accurate crosses, a dribble attempt and three key passes.
This was only the fifth Primeira Liga match that Quino has played in this season but he should be getting more playing time with solid performances like these. With the draw Pacos de Ferreira is still near the bottom of the Primeira Liga table, currently, in 16th place as Quinones and his team try to evade relegation.
