There are inclusively four Argentinian managers in the Liga MX and there were six Argentine players that captained top-flight Mexican teams this past weekend as well. The ‘Albiceleste’ influence in the Liga MX is prominent and here is a rundown of the four goals that were scored by Argentine players in the first round of matches in the Liga MX Clausura 2018.
The Leon captain finished where he left off in the Apertura 2017 with a goal that helped La Fiera get a 2-1 win against Atlas at the Estadio Jalisco. Boselli worked his magic off a cross by Andres Andrade as he dropped the ball to his feet with his chest and juked Miguel Fraga out to tap the ball in the back of an empty net. The 32-year-old was the joint top scorer in the Apertura 2017 with 11 goals and has gotten off to an excellent start in 2018.

Rogelio Funes Mori
Funes Mori scored the lone goal in Rayados’ 1-1 draw with Monarcas Morelia and had some help from a fellow countryman to score his goal. Jose Maria Basanta sent a potent driven ground pass right to the 26-year-old striker and Funes Mori had no problem sending the ball to the back of Sebastian Sosa’s net.

Jara had a typical goal for him from a header off a corner kick in Pachuca’s disappointing 3-2 loss to Pumas UNAM. The Cordoba native will have a lot of competition for his starting role with Paraguayan striker Walter Gonzalez now on the team.

A free kick by Paraguayan midfielder Osvaldo Martinez found the Santos Laguna captain inside of the penalty area. The goal did appear to be offside but the 29-year-old defender had a calmed and composed finish in front of Lucero Alvarez’s net to seal Santos 4-2 victory against Lobos BUAP.
