West Ham United had a disappointing scoreless draw against League One side Shrewsbury in the third round of the FA Cup this Sunday. Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez received the start for David Moyes in the game and had a woeful display in the encounter.
The Mexican striker received a start in the Irons’ previous game against Tottenham Hotspur and had no shots in 64 minutes of play. He had a very similar performance in this game against a much weaker side, which is very worrying.
The Guadalajara native played 71 minutes in the game, again he had no shots at all, no successful dribbles and only eight accurate passes. This time it was not against one of the top teams in the EPL but rather against a team from the third-tier league of English Football.
Shrewsbury is one of the better teams in League One, currently in second place but the gap in quality between the two teams is more than evident. “Chicharito” and the Hammers will now need to play a replay of this fixture and with these types of performances, he may start receiving even less playing time.
