This Tuesday, Santos Laguna officially announced the signing of 24-year-old Paraguayan forward Cris Martinez. The deal is set to be a loan from Chilean top-flight club Deportes Temuco and seems to be a signing that can only benefit the team with not much risk involved.
Martinez stands in at 5-foot-7, is said to be a skillful and speedy player that also has decent aerial abilities despite his height. The naturalized Chilean started his career in his native Paraguay with Club Nacional, where he won two league titles in 2009 and 2011.
Martinez then departed Paraguay and went on to play in Chile, Sweden and Peru before making the big leap to the Liga MX with Santos Laguna. The 24-year-old had a successful stint with his most recent club, Deportes Temuco as he helped the team achieve promotion to the Chilean first division in 2016. In three years with Temuco, Martinez managed to get himself 30 goals in 70 appearances.
The Paraguayan player now joins Jose Juan Vazquez, Jesus Isijara and Gerardo Alcoba as Santos Laguna’s reinforcements heading into the Clausura 2018.
