This Saturday, Sporting Cristal announced the signing of 27-year-old Colombian midfielder, Yulian Mejia from Atletico Nacional. The deal is said to be a season-long loan and Mejia should be able to help Los Celestes going forward in 2018.
The Medellin native is more of an attacking midfielder and has good vision, physical attributes and a decent shot on him as well. Sporting Cristal will play in the 2018 Copa Sudamericana, which should be a great opportunity for Mejia to shine.
The 27-year-old has played professionally for about a decade and most of his career has been in his native Colombia. Mejia has played with teams like Envigado, Independiente Medellin, Deportes Tolima, Atletico Nacional and Millonarios. His most recent team was Atletico Bucaramanga in 2017, where he managed to score four goals in 37 games.
The only team Mejia has played with outside of his native Colombia has been with Tigre in Argentina, where he received very limited playing time back in 2013. The Medellin native can prove to be a key player for Los Cerveceros, especially with the recent departure of Irven Avila to Mexican team, Lobos BUAP.
