Liga MX: Dairon Mosquera Joins Pachuca From Santa Fe
This Wednesday, Pachuca officially announced the signing of 25-year-old Fullback Dairon Mosquera from Colombian team Independiente Santa Fe. The team from Bogota and Mosquera had success in the 2017 Liga Aguila II as Santa Fe reached the final of the competition. Mosquera was a consistent starter for Los Leones throughout 2017 and was part of the best backline in the Colombian league. Santa Fe only allowed 10 goals during the regular season of the Liga Aguila II and Mosquera will now try and reinforce Los Tuzos’ defense. Pachuca had a disappointing Liga MX Apertura 2017 competition as the team finished in 12th place and allowed 25 goals, tied for fourth-worst in the tournament.

Mosquera is characterized as more of a defensive fullback especially with the system Gregorio Perez had in place in Santa Fe. The young Colombian defender stands in at 6-foot and averaged nearly three interceptions per game throughout the calendar year. Pachuca clearly needs to make a change in the upcoming Clausura 2018 as the team has missed out on the playoffs for two consecutive tournaments now and recent signings may be a step in the right direction. The move is also beneficial for Mosquera as he will join Colombian international Oscar Murillo and success in the Liga MX can translate into a call up by Jose Pekerman.
